On Friday, 9 January 2026, the Offender Database reported that Adam McLaughlan, 34, of Penkridge, was sentenced to six years in prison at Stafford Crown Court. McLaughlan was convicted of a prolonged campaign of abuse against multiple children, spanning several years in Staffordshire.

The court heard that McLaughlan was found guilty of 14 counts of sexual assault of a girl. Despite denying all charges at an earlier hearing, a jury convicted him based on the “strength of the investigation” and the testimony of the survivors. Detective Constable Patrick Hipwell of the Public Protection Unit (PPU) praised the survivors for their “tremendous courage” in coming forward to report the historical abuse, noting that officers worked tirelessly to build the case against McLaughlan.

Adam McLaughlan was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment. In addition to his custodial term, the judge imposed a lifetime restraining order to protect the survivors from any future contact or intimidation.

As a result of his convictions for serial sexual assault of children, McLaughlan has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He is also subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which legally restricts his future contact with children and allows for permanent monitoring of his residency and digital activities. He is managed under the highest level of Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) in Staffordshire. This ensures that Staffordshire Police and the National Probation Service maintain intensive surveillance of his movements to safeguard the community.
