In January 2026, the Offender Database reported that Mhfod Otman, 27, of Kingston-upon-Thames, Greater London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with a sexual assault at Camden Town Underground Station. Otman, an Algerian national, is accused of targeting a female passenger in a late-night attack on the transport network.

The court heard that the incident occurred just after midnight, at approximately 12:30 a.m. The victim was walking through a tunnel toward the platform when she reported feeling someone touch her “bum and her lower back area.” The prosecution, led by Sarah Madden, stated that the victim felt a hand “stroking up her body.” When she turned around, she found Otman standing directly behind her.

During the hearing on January 7, 2026, Otman required an Arabic interpreter to confirm his details. He was wearing a Trapstar jacket, a Louis Vuitton scarf, and Nike trainers in the dock. Magistrate Tim Cohen granted the defendant conditional bail, warning him that failing to appear at his next hearing or committing further offences while on bail would be treated with extreme severity by the court.

Mhfod Otman has been committed to Inner London Crown Court, where he is scheduled to appear on February 3, 2026. At that hearing, he will be expected to enter a plea to the charge of sexual assault. If convicted, he will face a range of sentencing options, including a potential custodial term and mandatory registration as a sex offender.

Under the Sex Offenders Register, individuals convicted of sexual assault are required to keep the police informed of their address and travel plans. Offenders like Otman are managed through Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) to mitigate risk to the public. Additionally, the court may impose a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which could include specific bans from using the London Underground or the wider National Rail network.
