In September 2024, the Offender Database reported that Scott Lister, 53, of Ferndale Terrace, Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, was sentenced at Hull Crown Court for possessing and making hundreds of indecent images of children. Lister, a repeat offender, was caught after continuing his “obsession” with child abuse material despite having previously been jailed for similar crimes.
The court heard that between July 2021 and March 2022, the paedophile used his digital devices to download a vast collection of illegal material. Police investigators seized a memory stick containing 66 images and 71 videos, as well as a mobile phone containing further illicit files. The collection included a significant amount of Category A material—the most severe legal classification depicting the rape and torture of children—including 10 Category A images and 28 Category A videos on the memory stick, and additional Category A files on his phone. Lister was also found to be in breach of a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that had been imposed following a conviction in 2016.
During the proceedings, Judge John Thackray KC condemned Lister’s actions, stating that his consumption of such material fuels the abuse of children and causes “lifelong damage.” The court was told that Lister, who worked building models for war games, had struggled with isolation and alcohol misuse, claiming the offences were a form of “self-medication.” However, the judge ruled that Lister had proven his risk could not be managed in the community.
Scott Lister was sentenced to 14 months in prison. The judge noted that an immediate custodial sentence was the only appropriate punishment for an offender who failed to learn from previous incarcerations. Lister’s defence counsel stated that he now understands the “disgusting and despicable” nature of his offence and the impact on the victims depicted in the pornography.
As a result of his repeat convictions for child sex offences, Lister remains on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He is managed under the highest level of Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) in the East Riding of Yorkshire. His existing lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) remains in effect, and he will be subject to intensive, permanent monitoring by Humberside Police to ensure he no longer has the opportunity to access or distribute child abuse material.
WARNING
Scott Lister has been seen on the prowl in Leeds, where he is currently living, so watch out!
