Cleveland Police have released a CCTV image and are urgently appealing for witnesses following a disturbing group sexual assault in Middlesbrough. The incident occurred between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, 13 December 2025, in the area of Captain Cook Square.
According to investigators, a 25-year-old woman was leaving the Bazaar premises when she was approached by a group of approximately five to seven men who began making comments to her. The group then surrounded the woman, forming a circle, and she was sexually assaulted by one of the individuals. After the attack, the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction, and the victim sought safety back inside the building.

The suspects are described as:
- Believed to be Asian
- Aged between 17 and 23
- Wearing dark clothing

Officers have released a CCTV image of a male they would like to speak with, as they believe he may have vital information that could assist the ongoing investigation. PC Burnhope, from Middlesbrough’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, stated: “I understand this will be concerning to the local community, and we are doing all we can to identify the person responsible.”
