In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Vincent Matthews, a Swansea Paedophile Child Molester, a former director of a Welsh rugby club has received a 16-year prison sentence for the rape of a minor.
Vincent Matthews, then 56, resigned from his position as director of Morriston Rugby Club in May.
He confessed to six charges of rape and two charges of attempted rape involving a minor under the age of 13.
Judge Paul Thomas QC informed Swansea Crown Court that the repercussions will persist for “years and years and years.”
Vincent Matthews, hailing from Swansea, received a prison sentence accompanied by an additional seven years on licence.
He will spend a minimum of 10 years and 8 months before becoming eligible for parole consideration.
The offences occurred between 2017 and February 2019, and communications revealed that the girl had been groomed by the perpetrator, as presented in court.
Judge Thomas stated: “You intentionally and insidiously sought to entice a 10-year-old girl while you were in your mid-fifties.”
“You exploited your position to manipulate her for the purpose of engaging in sexual relations with her repeatedly, on numerous occasions.”
The judge articulated the considerable psychological effects of the acts on the child, as detailed in a victim impact statement submitted by her father.
“These offences persist beyond the conclusion of the acts,” he stated.
Judge Thomas stated that the jail sentence had been diminished by one-third due to his prompt acknowledgement of guilt.
Vincent Matthews had previously been directed to enrol in the Sex Offenders Register.
