The Offender Database reported that convicted sex offender Robert Welsh, a Stanley Paedophile, is feeling a lot better and trawling on Plenty of Fish for a new victim and back to being as abusive as ever to women and girls.

In 2023, a County Durham paedophile discovered in possession of “repugnant” abusive photographs claimed he had sought refuge online due to suicidal ideations.

Robert Welsh experienced suicidal ideation and subsequently sought assistance via the social media application Kik.

The then 57-year-old caretaker was discovered in possession of around 50 abhorrent child sexual abuse photographs.

The court was informed that Welsh, residing on Byron Close, Stanley, possessed 18 category A photographs, 12 category B images, and 17 category C images.

The photos portrayed actual youngsters being sexually exploited, raped, and tortured by adults.

Welsh was convicted at Durham Crown Court on Thursday for three offences of producing indecent pictures of children. He acknowledged the offences. Sean Dryden, representing the prosecution, stated that Welsh utilised the Kik application to see the photographs and repeatedly installed and uninstalled the software to obscure his activities.

In sentencing Welsh, Judge James Adkin described the photographs as “repellent” and imposed an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. He is required to fulfil 50 days of rehabilitation and has been subjected to a four-month electronic curfew.

He will be included on the sex offenders’ register for a duration of 10 years, and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order has been enforced.
