In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Andrew James Dobler, the Longhope Paedophile Child Molester, appeared at Swansea Crown Court having pleaded guilty to 10 counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.
A judge denounced the ‘appalling’ conduct of Andrew James Dobler, who maltreated two young children and instructed them to maintain secrecy.
The incident occurred in the Swansea region and involved two young females.
The court was informed that Andrew James Dobler’s misconduct was initially reported to the police via an anonymous phone call, which expressed worries regarding his behaviour.
A piece of paper in one of the young girl’s diaries also revealed this information.
The 56-year-old initially refuted the charges, claiming they were a mistake, but subsequently acknowledged his acts, as presented in court.
Police became involved, and the two young girls were interviewed. It was explained that Andrew James Dobler, of Longhope, Gloucestershire, had occasionally committed acts using a pillow to conceal his actions while other adults were present.
Prosecutor Robin Rouch told the court that Andrew James Dobler would say, “It’s our secret, don’t tell anyone about it.”
When interviewed by the police, he responded with ‘no comment’.
Statements were read out to the court on behalf of the young victims, including one girl noting how her experience has affected the way she sees older men, even if she knows them to be trustworthy.
“On the bus, the bus driver has not done anything, but it has made me anxious,” the statement read.
“I can wake up feeling happy, but that can alter quickly.”
Andrew James Dobler was jailed for five years and was also given a sexual offences prevention order and must sign the sex offenders’ register.
