John Ward, 63, of Sutherland Street, Westmorland and Furness, was convicted yesterday at Preston Crown Court to two and a half years for the specified offences.

John Ward’s misconduct was recorded by the Constabulary’s Cyber & Digital Crime Unit while he was communicating with an individual he presumed to be a 14-year-old kid in November of the previous year.
He was indeed conversing with a specialised police officer over a social media platform.
John Ward scheduled a meeting with the 14-year-old at the Tesco Express on Rawlinson Street, where he was promptly apprehended by police officers.
Throughout the correspondence, John Ward transmitted multiple explicit sexual texts.
