The Offender Database has reported that Amanuele Mebrahtu, the Cardiff Rapist and Sex Offender Uber driver, was imprisoned for sexually abusing two solitary women in Cardiff

Amanuele Mebrahtu, from Canton, Cardiff, was discovered after a comprehensive review of CCTV footage that monitored his movements on foot and in his vehicle, as he travelled from the city centre to Cathays.

An application on his phone, utilised for his taxi services, also offered real-time location tracking that aligned precisely with the suspect depicted in the CCTV footage.

Although subsequently forensically connected to the victim’s attire by DNA found on her frock, Amanuele Mebrahtu persisted in denying culpability for the assaults that occurred in October and December 2024.

The Uber driver sexually abused a customer after transporting her to her residence and requesting a hug. Subsequently, he sexually assaulted another woman after proposing to carry her on his back down a flight of stairs.

The 28-year-old persistently refuted both charges but was convicted at Newport Crown Court of sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by touching.

Amanuele Mebrahtu received a sentence of seven years and three months of jail, accompanied by an extended licence period of three years, at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday, November 4.

Amanuele Mebrahtu was subjected to sex offender notification obligations and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
