A security guard, Shazad Mughal, the Crumpsall Rapist and Sex Offender, was incarcerated for the rape and sexual assault of a woman.
On Wednesday, 10 August 2022, at 12:45 AM, officers received a 999 call from the victim reporting a sexual assault.
The victim enquired of Shazad Mughal, a security guard, for directions to Manchester city centre following the premature termination of their tram.
Shazad Mughal permitted the victim to utilise the lavatory prior to sexually abusing her in his security booth.
The victim successfully escaped the area and contacted the police, staying concealed until an officer found them.
Shazad Mughal, residing at Tansley Road, Crumpsall, was sentenced to seven and a half years in jail on Friday, November 7, 2025, after being convicted of one crime of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
