Following police pulling over a university graduate in Newcastle, Joshua Tilley West Bridgford Paedophile was discovered to have offensive photographs.
Police stopped Joshua Tilley following “suspicious” internet activity reported to them; his mobile phone was taken. After an investigation, he was arrested after eleven indecent photographs in category C turned up on the phone.
Joshua Tilley, of West Bridgford, Nottingham, showed up before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court this week under charge of producing obscene pictures. He entered a guilty plea after committing the act on or around May 13, 2022.
When Joshua Tilley’s car stopped, the court learnt that Newcastle police were on duty. Prosecuting Stephen Davies said: “They halted a vehicle the defendant was occupying. Examined when his cell phone was seized, several pictures turned up. [There were 11 category C photos featuring children overall.]
The judge noted Joshua Tilley had never received any convictions. Defending, Michael Gibson said: “He came to police [notice] due to some dubious behaviour on the web. On his phone, he had 11 images; the last time the file was visited was in 2020.
“He was bored in Edinburgh after graduating with a first degree and was conversing with a female [online] when she informed him she was sixteen years old. Snapchat took over the [chat], and she sent him some pictures. He never asks for them.”
Magistrates fined Joshua Tilley £666 and ordered him to pay a surcharge of £266 and expenses of £85. He will also be on a five-year record of sex offenders.
