In 2022, Faran Hanson, a South Yorkshire Police Sex Offender and special constable, was at risk of dismissal after being convicted of transmitting sexually graphic pictures to women.
Faran Hanson, 26, presently suspended from South Yorkshire Police, transmitted photographs through Snapchat to three women.
Faran Hanson was convicted of three violations of the Communications Act 2003 during a trial at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The police called his conduct “appalling”.
Faran Hanson, residing on Wensleydale Road in Doncaster, received a two-year community order, mandated to undergo 60 days of rehabilitation and perform 200 hours of unpaid labour.
He received a five-year restraining order for each of his victims.
A probe commenced in May 2021 following a woman’s allegation of receiving an explicit image, as shown in court.
Faran Hanson was recognised as the sender, and subsequent investigations revealed two other victims.
During the trial, it was revealed that he had faced disciplinary action from his former company for a comparable event.
Detective Superintendent Delphine Waring, head of the professional standards department, stated that Faran Hanson’s conduct was “far, far below” the required standard for workers.
She stated: “He declined to acknowledge responsibility for his offences, necessitating that this issue proceed to trial, and I am gratified that he was convicted based on the substantial evidence presented to the court.”
Ms Waring praised the victims for testifying in court.
