Aaron Tugwell, the Rugeley Male Rapist, who sexually assaulted another guy in a hotel room in Burton-on-Trent, has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Aaron Tugwell, 26, from Rugeley, was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday, 16 October, after being found guilty of two charges of male rape and one count of coercing a man into sexual conduct.

It occurred in October 2022. Aaron Tugwell brought the survivor to his hotel room and subsequently committed rape and sexual assault against him.

As the survivor attempted to depart, Aaron Tugwell endeavoured to persuade him to remain, but he refused. The survivor hailed a taxi home and reported the event to the police.

Aaron Tugwell was apprehended the day following the incident and refuted the allegations throughout the interview.

Officers from our Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit (RASSO) diligently assisted the survivor and gathered the necessary evidence to substantiate charges against Aaron Tugwell.

He continued to refute the charges in court, although a jury found him guilty on all counts after a trial in July of this year.

Aaron Tugwell was indefinitely registered on the Sex Offenders Register as part of his sentencing.
