Michael Oluronbi, leader of the Birmingham Bathing Cult, which was an organisation located in Birmingham, England, that perpetrated grave sexual offences against children for more than two decades.
Michael Oluronbi administered “holy baths” to youngsters as a pretext for the abuse and was eventually sentenced to 34 years in prison.
British Guest, Michael Oluronbi, originally from Nigeria, headed a faction of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in a residence in Birmingham, England, beginning in 1989.
It comprised roughly 40 members.
According to authorities, he proclaimed himself a prophet and “exerted such influence over the congregation that anything he stated was accepted as fact.” Several individuals who experienced sexual abuse by Michael Oluronbi referred to their organisation as “a cult” with a “domineering” head.
Michael Oluronbi perpetrated sexual assault against children for more than 20 years, commencing in 1989, in Birmingham and London.
His identified victims included six girls and one boy, several of whom he persisted in assaulting until adulthood.
Michael Oluronbi’s youngest victim was eight years old. Authorities suspect the existence of further victims.
He committed the offences while administering “spiritual baths” to the children in an upstairs bathroom, occasionally with the aid of his wife. The victims were either unclothed or adorned solely with a scarlet sash.
The maltreatment encompassed coercing children to ingest perfume, sexual assault during bathing, and subsequent rape.
He committed rape on at least 88 occasions.
He dominated his young victims using terrifying beliefs, including warnings that a youngster might become a witch or flunk academic examinations if they opposed his abuse.
He justified his offences as divine directives and purificatory rites to safeguard against malevolent spirits.
The Crown Prosecution Service stated that due to the “influence and authority of the defendants,” victims “genuinely believed their actions were on behalf of God.”
Michael Oluronbi was confronted with 32 charges, all of which he refuted. He and his spouse underwent a nine-week trial, concluding in January 2020, resulting in his conviction on 24 counts, while the jury was deadlocked on an additional six accusations.
The media was barred from reporting on the court proceedings or the offences during the trial, probably due to his race/culture. These could only be disclosed following the judge’s removal of legal restrictions on 14 January 2020, when the Crown Prosecution Service declared it would not pursue a retrial.
On 10 January 2020, both offenders were convicted of several child sexual crimes.
Michael Oluronbi was convicted on 24 charges, including 15 counts of rape.
All three of his wife’s convictions were for “aiding and abetting rape” by facilitating clandestine abortions.
On 6 March 2020, Michael Oluronbi and his spouse, Juliana Oluronbi, were sentenced to 34 years and 11 years in prison, respectively.
Juliana Oluronbi will be out soon, no doubt aiding pre-teens in getting an abortion for her next “master”.
