In 2024, Abdifatah Mohamud, the Islington Rapist, was incarcerated after assaulting a lady twice in the restrooms of Kings Cross railway station, according to an inquiry by the British Transport Police (BTP).

Abdifatah Mohamud, 35, of Bingfield Street, Islington, was sentenced to 11 years today (12 January) at Inner London Crown Court after being convicted by a jury on two counts of rape. He was also issued a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a lifetime registration on the Sex Offenders Register.

The court was informed that on 12th October 2022, at approximately 5 PM, the victim was present at a local park with a group that included Mohamud. He asserted his acquaintance with the victim, providing her with his nickname and initiating a conversation.

Subsequently, at approximately 10 PM, the victim reappeared at King’s Cross railway station and rejoined the same gang encountered earlier that day. Abdifatah Mohamud approached her again and coerced her into the loo, where he raped her.

Subsequently, Abdifatah Mohamud took the victim for a meal to deceive her into thinking he posed no threat. Subsequently, he compelled her once more into the loo, administering medications and sexually assaulting her again. Upon the victim expressing distress and vocalising their feelings, Mohamud departed from the location.

The victim was discovered in the lavatory by a maid, who then notified security, leading to a report being filed with the British Transport Police.

Detective Constable Adrienne Curzon, the investigating officer, stated: “Abdifatah Mohamud is a premeditated perpetrator who employed coercion and manipulation to perpetrate the rape of the victim.” This has been a profoundly distressing event for her, and I hope this resolution aids her in overcoming the traumatic ordeal she endured.

“We regard all reports of sexual offences with utmost seriousness, and I trust this conveys a robust message to perpetrators that we will exert every effort to guarantee justice is achieved.”
