In 2024, Andrii Melnyk, the Chiswick Sex Offender, was sentenced to 4.5 years in jail after admitting guilt to the sexual abuse of a juvenile girl.
Andrii Melnyk, residing on Harvard Road, Chiswick, and born on December 15, 1993, was sentenced today, January 17, at Reading Crown Court for sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by touching. He will be permanently included on the sexual offenders register.
The incident occurred on 2 April at approximately 6 am on Short Lane in Staines, where Andrii Melnyk pursued the victim after they disembarked from the same bus, seizing her by the arm and attempting to lower her trousers. The victim subsequently collapsed, and Andrii Melnyk fell upon her, after which he perpetrated sexual assault.
The 18-year-old victim successfully repelled the assailant and called for help before obtaining assistance from a nearby taxi driver, who contacted the police. Andrii Melnyk subsequently absconded from the location.
Andrii Melnyk was recognised as the offender after officers reviewed the bus CCTV and correlated him with the suspect description. Andrii Melnyk was accurately identified as the user by cross-referencing the Oyster card utilised on the bus.
Upon investigating his residence, officers discovered garments consistent with those captured on the CCTV, along with a pair of unusual jeans exhibiting dirt stains on the knees. He was then identified as the culprit in an identification parade by the victim, before being charged with the charges and held in custody.
Investigating Officer DC Katherine Peters stated, “This was a multifaceted investigation that encompassed various avenues of inquiry, including forensics, intelligence, witness testimonies, and CCTV.”
