Christopher James, the Ceredigion Paedophile, perpetrated a prolonged campaign of systematic sexual abuse against three young girls for over a decade. Christopher James routinely raped and sexually molested the children after relocating to Wales from Worcestershire.

The 60-year-old was found guilty at Swansea Crown Court of 22 charges, including indecent assault, indecency with a child, rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault of a child under 13, as well as the rape and attempted rape of a child under 13. A judge sentenced the defendant to 21 years in jail, stating that, based on the court’s experience, offences like those perpetrated by Christopher James had lifelong repercussions for victims.

Barrister Nicola Powell, representing Christopher James, stated that although the defendant respects the court’s procedures, he asserts his innocence regarding all counts. She requested the judge to consider her client’s positive character traits, a plea substantiated by testimonials from friends and relatives who fully support the paedophile child molester.

Christopher James, from Brynheulwen, Blaenannerch, Ceredigion, had been previously convicted at trial when he appeared in court for sentencing.

Geraint Walters informed the defendant of his conviction for “systematically abusing” three girls over a duration exceeding 10 years. In accordance with the sentencing guidelines, the judge imposed a total prison term of 21 years on James, a native of Stourport-on-Severn. The defendant will be a registered sex offender for life.

Addressing the audience subsequent to the hearing, Detective Inspector Llyr Williams, the lead investigating officer of Dyfed-Powys Police, stated: “Christopher James perpetrated heinous crimes against minors; thus, we welcome this sentence and hope it serves as a deterrent to others contemplating similar abuse.” Should you perpetrate offences of this nature against defenceless youngsters, we will ensure you are held accountable.

I wish to commend the victims in this case for their fortitude and courage in coming forward and during the inquiry and trial that Christopher James subjected them to. We anticipate that today’s verdict would provide them with some solace and enable them to progress in their lives.

This inquiry has been thorough and comprehensive, spanning over two years before reaching the court. I wish to express my gratitude to the officers and support personnel who have diligently addressed distressing issues to ensure that Christopher James is brought to justice.

If you have experienced abuse, do not endure it in quiet. We will attentively listen to you and provide help during the investigation.
