An Amesbury Rapist, Anthony Donald Raymond, has been incarcerated for rape following police officers’ inadvertently discovering a sexual assault.
In March 2022, Anthony Donald Raymond proposed to provide a woman with transportation home, but he diverted to a secluded area in Wiltshire and halted the vehicle.
The 33-year-old, Anthony Donald Raymond, from Amesbury violently disrobed her and perpetrated the rape.
During a routine patrol, police officers encountered the occurrence; however, Anthony Donald Raymond successfully evaded capture and fled the scene.
After a week-long trial at Winchester Crown Court, the victim’s statement, corroborated by the officers and their body-worn camera evidence, resulted in a guilty conviction.
On 20 October, Anthony Donald Raymond was sentenced to nine years in prison and had to register as a lifelong sex offender.
District of Columbia Martyn Powell of South CID stated, “I commend the victim in this case for demonstrating the courage and determination to endure a challenging 18 months and a week-long trial.”
The cops present at the scene recorded crucial information and evidence on their body-worn cameras, which were subsequently presented in court.
“I aspire for this statement to motivate individuals who have experienced sexual violence to report incidents to law enforcement, where we will strive to provide support.”
