A Parkway Paedophile from Bridgwater, Matthew O’Brien, has been incarcerated for 10 months following the discovery of over 40,000 indecent photos of minors on his computer devices by the police.

Matthew O’Brien of Parkway appeared at Taunton Crown Court, facing charges of possession of indecent pictures of children.

In 2022, the residence of the 36-year-old was searched, during which law enforcement discovered a computer, a USB drive, and a mobile phone belonging to Matthew O’Brien.

Upon analysis of the devices, more than 40,000 indecent photographs of children were discovered, encompassing all degrees of obscenity, including Category A images depicting the rape and torture of young children, as well as images of bestiality (sexual actions between humans and animals).

Judge Cook imposed a ten-month prison sentence on Matthew O’Brien for each offence, to be served concurrently.

A sexual harm prevention order was imposed for a duration of ten years, and Matthew O’Brien will be mandated to register as a sex offender.
