A Bradford Paedophile, Gareth Hemmingway, convicted of grave sexual offences against minors, is commencing an extended jail term.

Gareth Hemmingway received a 13-year prison sentence, with an additional year on licence, imposed by a judge at Bradford Crown Court, along with a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

The 40-year-old is required to register as a lifelong sex offender.

The court received a statement from one of Gareth Hemmingway’s victims, who asserted that his assault “altered my identity.”

The court was informed that Gareth Hemmingway, who has no permanent residence and appeared via video link from HMP Leeds, had prior convictions, although none were for sexual offences.

While sentencing Gareth Hemmingway, whom he characterised as “a defendant of particular concern,” Mr. Recorder Mark McKone stated: “Your exceedingly serious offences are likely to impact all victims for their entire lives.”

He imposed a sentence of 13 years’ imprisonment, accompanied by one year on licence, stating: “The parole board will initially evaluate your eligibility for release after you have completed two-thirds of the sentence, excluding time served on remand.”

Your release will be denied if you continue to present a substantial risk of inflicting serious harm, namely if there is a likelihood of future sexual abuse of other girls.

He praised the victims for their bravery in providing testimony at Gareth Hemmingway’s trial.
