Police are hunting a one-eyed man, the Kidlington Rapist, James Doran, after a teenage girl was raped in an Oxfordshire town, as the public is warned not to approach him if he is seen.

James Doran, of Kidlington, is wanted in connection with the rape of a teenage girl on Monday, August 11th, in Banbury.

The 23-year-old is known to frequent the North Oxfordshire and South Warwickshire areas, and also has links to Hillingdon in London and Leicestershire.

Thames Valley Police are “urgently” appealing for the public’s help in tracing him, but have warned people to call 999 if he is found, and not to approach him.

A picture has been released of James Doran to assist people in identifying him, and he is described as white, with short ginger or brown hair, a ginger or brown beard and is missing his right eye.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Becky Sargeant, said: “We are urgently appealing for the public’s help in locating James Doran.

“Anyone with information about his current whereabouts should call 999. It is important that if you see him, please do not approach him, and instead call 999.

“If you have any other information on the whereabouts of James Doran, please call 101 or make a report online, quoting reference 43250409668.

James Doran was convicted of stealing a handbag, a cigarette case, and a mirror and was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.

James Doran, 24, was admitted to committing burglary at a residence in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, on 30 August 2024.

The police previously stated that the suspect from Kidlington, Oxfordshire, was apprehended following an alleged rape in Banbury on 11 August.

Nevertheless, Oxford Crown Court was informed that two rape allegations and one charge of child detention had been dismissed due to insufficient evidence:
