A Catholic priest and Wilmslow Paedophile, Christopher Brain, who orchestrated a church ‘cult’ and exploited his authority to sexually assault young and vulnerable women in his Sheffield congregation has been convicted of various charges following an investigation by South Yorkshire Police.

Christopher Brain established a highly authoritarian and oppressive atmosphere within the Nine O’Clock Service (NOS) during the 1980s and 1990s, compelling victims to acquiesce to his sexual demands.

After a trial at Inner London Crown Court, Christopher Brain, 68, of Park Road, Wilmslow, Cheshire, was found guilty by a jury on Wednesday, 20 August, of 17 charges of indecent assault on nine women. He was acquitted of an additional 15 charges of the same offence.

On Thursday, August 21, the jury announced its inability to reach a verdict on four further counts of indecent assault and one case of rape. The jury was then dismissed.

Christopher Brain will receive sentencing on a date yet to be determined.

A lying woman accomplice previously apprehended in relation to the case was released without further proceedings.
