A “predatory” convicted Peterborough Paedophile Child Molester, Shaun Fox used a 14-year-old by creating a fraudulent Instagram account and masquerading as a teenager, according to court testimony.
Shaun Fox, 43, created a profile using a pseudonym to “attempt to entrap young girls” for grooming, stated Judge Philip Grey at Cambridge Crown Court.
The victim’s parents intercepted his messages concurrently with his transmission of sexual content, including child exploitation material.
Judge Grey described Shaun Fox as “every parent’s worst nightmare” and sentenced him to nine and a half years in prison, followed by an additional five years on license.
Shaun Fox, from Peterborough, confessed to 11 offences, including inducing a girl aged 13 to 15 to participate in sexual activity and disseminating an obscene image of a child.
Prosecutor Irsa Iqbal informed the court that Shaun Fox’s misconduct was disclosed in June when the victim’s parents became aware, as the girl believed he was 17 years old.
Shaun Fox transmitted lewd photographs of himself, and the court was informed that the girl had also given an explicit image of herself.
In a communication observed by the victim’s mother, Shaun Fox, utilising an alias, transmitted a sequence of three explicit movies.
The police connected Shaun Fox to the account using a prepaid mobile phone, resulting in his detention.
The victim’s mother said “this man has taken away her innocence” and “brought sexual violence and abuse into her life”.
Judge Grey said the girl and her parents “bear no blame whatsoever for what happened”.
He told Shaun Fox he had left a “trail of devastation just so you could get your kicks”.
Shaun Fox, he said, had a “plan to corrupt and sexually abuse her online”.
Judge Grey said “your regret, in my judgement, was you were caught”.
Shaun Fox has previous convictions for 15 child sexual abuse offences and had last been released from prison in May 2023.
