A predatory Agape for All Nations Church sex offender preacher, Walter Masocha, who sexually assaulted a female congregant while feigning the exorcism of demons from her body has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Walter Masocha will be subject to stringent social work supervision for four years post-release from prison, and his name will permanently reside on the sex offenders’ register.

A jury was informed that he sexually assaulted the married woman at his residence in Stirling after proclaiming that she was a divine gift to him.

A 58-year-old married woman, Walter Masocha, who was regularly subjected to unwanted and uninvited sexual abuse, provided testimony against him.

The woman stated that he had informed her God had “bestowed her upon him as a gift” and commanded her to kiss his “sacred lips.”

She stated that he attempted to rationalise his actions of inserting his hand into her pants and fondling her intimate areas by asserting that he was “exorcising demons” from her body and bestowing blessings in exchange.

At the conclusion of Walter Masocha’s trial, counsel depute Michael McIntosh stated: “She sought prayer and instead became a target.

”Walter Masocha was not merely a pastor and preacher; he was a predator who believed his authority and status exempted him from scrutiny.

Walter Masocha attempted to sexually assault the sole female under his supervision and also committed acts of indecent assault throughout a protracted six-year period of sexual abuse.

The accountancy professor from Stirling University, who established his own church in Scotland in 2007 shortly after relocating from Zimbabwe, faced trial at the High Court in Livingston last month.

He was found guilty of attempted rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault against one woman, as well as indecent assault against another, at locations in the Stirling area between January 1, 2006, and July 31, 2012.

A 39-year-old lady recounted that she was 20 when Walter Masocha commenced sexually abusing her after she stayed with his family.

She stated that the majority of individuals in the church regarded him as a paternal figure and addressed him as “Dad” or “Daddy.”

She stated, “He would inform me, ‘God has instructed me to care for you and has bestowed upon me a unique affection for you.’”

She stated that he also conveyed to her: “God has bestowed you upon me to nurture, care for, and provide for you.” He instructed me to love you in whichever manner you choose to be loved. A boyfriend is unnecessary.

She alleged that Walter Masocha sexually assaulted her by seizing her face, inserting his tongue into her mouth, and striking her buttocks as she ascended the stairs.

On another occasion, she recounted that he grasped her hand and positioned it on his erect penis through his clothing at his seven-bedroom residence in Sauchieburn, near Stirling.

When he subsequently attempted to assault her after bringing her into his bedroom, she reported feeling paralysed and powerless but ultimately succeeded in evading his grasp.

Walter Masocha, 61, of Forth Park, Bridge of Allan, refuted all allegations and asserted that both ladies fabricated their accounts against him.

Judge Susan Craig characterised Walter Masocha’s offences as “appalling” and indicated that a protracted jail term was unavoidable.

Alongside the lengthened sentence, she instituted non-harassment restrictions prohibiting him from approaching or contacting his two victims.

Walter Masocha was convicted in June 2015 of sexually abusing a church deaconess and inappropriately touching a schoolgirl, claiming he was attempting to exorcise demons.

The convictions were subsequently annulled by the appellate court after judges determined he had been subjected to a miscarriage of justice.

Subsequently, the Crown initiated new charges following accusations made to the police by two additional women regarding his conduct.

Walter Masocha transformed The Agape for All Nations Church into a global religious organisation including over 2,000 members.

He self-appointed as Archbishop, receiving the same pay as the Archbishop of Canterbury, and led a jet-set lifestyle, travelling to his missions throughout the UK, the United States, Canada, and other African nations.
