On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Sid Ali Djelid (born January 9, 1986), also known as Mourad Malki, the Manchester Rapist, of Smedley Road, was convicted on five counts of rape in the city centre after a five-week trial at Manchester Crown Court.
The court was informed that the series of rapes occurred between February and July 2024, during which Sid Ali Djelid preyed upon and assaulted drunk victims in the city centre.
The initial of the three assaults transpired on Sunday, 18 February 2024, during the early morning hours. CCTV film depicts Sid Ali Djelid escorting his female victim along a remote alley adjacent to China Town, where he then raped her, stole her mobile phone, and fled the scene.
Her cell phone was located on Smedley Road in Cheetham Hill, in proximity to Sid Ali Djelid’s residence.
Sid Ali Djelid, purportedly an Algerian national, perpetrated his second crime on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, when he accosted a victim visiting Manchester for work outside a pub on Canal Street. Following a dialogue with the victim, he escorted him to a secluded area near Richmond Street and assaulted him sexually.
Sid Ali Djelid once more pilfered possessions from the victim, specifically his phone, watch, and necklace. The victim’s stolen phone was located near Vallea Court in Cheetham Hill.
