Thomas Hampton, the Mexborough Sex Offender, was apprehended following an allegation from a woman at a tanning salon who alleged that a somebody attempted to capture a photograph or video of her while she was utilising a sunbed.
Detectives swiftly determined that the hand grasping the phone originated from the adjacent room occupied by Thomas Hampton at that moment.
Following the arrest, officers confiscated and scrutinised the 33-year-old’s phone. This revealed several self-recorded movies and photographs of women in public, including ‘upskirting’ footage.
The prompt action of the investigative team led to Thomas Hampton being charged with three crimes and placed in detention.
Thomas Hampton, residing on York Street in Mexborough, admitted guilt to two charges: manipulating equipment under another’s clothing without consent and seeing an other engaged in a private act.
Thomas Hampton was sentenced to one year in prison at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, July 11.
He was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for seven years, which prohibits him from possessing any equipment capable of capturing images without telling the police, and forbids him from accessing any unisex changing facilities and tanning salons in the UK.
