A Peterborough Paedophile, Rakesh Mahaseth, who attempted to meet with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl has been incarcerated.

On 23 February, Rakesh Mahaseth, 32, was challenged by an online child advocacy group in an alley adjacent to Tesco in Broadway, Peterborough.

On 4 February, he initiated communication with a decoy from the group via a dating application.

The decoy claimed to be a 13-year-old girl, while Rakesh Mahaseth expressed a desire to communicate something “naughty.”

He sexualised the communication, persistently posing inappropriate enquiries to the decoy and transmitting images of himself.

He scheduled a meeting with the decoy but was instead confronted by the activist group, which notified the authorities.

On Friday, June 13, at Peterborough Crown Court, Rakesh Mahaseth, residing on Broadway, Peterborough, was sentenced to 26 months in prison after pleading guilty to seeking to meet a girl under the age of 16 following grooming.

He was registered on the Sex Offenders Register for a duration of ten years and issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, likewise effective for ten years.
