A Ringway Paedophile, Edward Cason, who persistently sexually assaulted a girl over 25 years ago has been incarcerated following the courageous disclosure of his misconduct by the survivor.

In July 2020, an adult female reported to Northamptonshire Police that Edward Cason, aged 61, had sexually assaulted her during her childhood in the mid to late 1990s.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) West initiated an inquiry that uncovered how Edward Cason, then in his 30s and in a relationship, had befriended the girl, convincing her of a sincere romantic connection, which she ultimately terminated due to his possessive conduct and indifference to her emotions.

Edward Cason was charged with three counts of indecent assault on a female under 16, pursuant to the Sexual acts Act 1956, for acts committed between 1995 and 1998.

After a trial at Northampton Crown Court, Edward Cason, residing on Ringway, Northampton, was convicted on all 12 charges on February 14 of this year.

On May 30, he reappeared in the same court where he received a cumulative sentence of 14 years’ imprisonment, with a minimum duration of nine years, subjected to an indeterminate Sexual Harm Prevention Order and issued a restraining order.

Detective Constable Alex Steele stated: “I am delighted for the survivor, whose courage in reporting Edward Cason has led to his identification as a sexual predator and his appropriate incarceration for an extended duration.”

“It took her many years to acknowledge that Edward Cason’s behaviour was abuse, pure and simple, and that any guilt or shame lay squarely with him.

“Edward Cason took advantage of a child, who was vulnerable through her age and family circumstances, and framed himself as a sympathetic shoulder to cry on, in order to repeatedly sexually abuse her.

“She has asked for this case to be publicised to show others who may have suffered non-recent sexual abuse that justice is possible, and I hope this outcome demonstrates that the passage of time is not a barrier to holding abusers to account.

“Throughout our investigation the survivor has shown true courage and determination, and I want to thank her for trusting us and working with us to secure this fantastic result. She deserves every future happiness.”
