A 73-year-old Paedophile from Northwich, Andrew Wolverson, has been incarcerated for violating his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

On Wednesday, May 14, Andrew Wolverson received a 32-month prison sentence at Chester Crown Court.

Andrew Wolverson, hailing from Northwich, possessed multiple prior convictions for the possession of indecent photographs and was on a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposed several stringent requirements.

On 13 November 2024, officers visited Andrew Wolverson’s residence as part of the standard procedures to monitor registered sex offenders.

During the inspection, officers observed an LP vinyl record beneath his mattress. The cover of the record featured a topless young woman. This aroused the officers’ suspicions, resulting in the discovery of a white jiffy envelope with multiple drawings of naked youngsters created by Andrew Wolverson.

Following the finds, officers apprehended Andrew Wolverson and subsequently executed a comprehensive section 32 search of the premises, where more drawings were located in a notepad concealed beneath the bed. Numerous pictures illustrated instances of youngsters experiencing sexual abuse.

Officers seized a total of 173 illicit photos of minors, in addition to an unregistered USB drive.

Andrew Wolverson was then apprehended and subsequently charged with possession of banned photographs and violation of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He admitted culpability for all the allegations.

Police Constable David Howells, of the Sex Offender Management Unit at Cheshire Police, said:

“As a registered sex offender, Andrew Wolverson was required to adhere to a number of conditions to deter him from reoffending.

“Sadly, Andrew Wolverson chose to ignore these conditions, and he is now facing the consequences of his actions.

“This sentencing shows the effectiveness of monitoring offenders who are subject to Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and highlights the consequences of not adhering to the conditions.

“I hope it reassures people that we do carefully monitor registered sex offenders in the community, along with our Probation partners and take swift decisive action when a breach is discovered.”
