The Offender Database reported that following stomping on the skull of a woman and sexually assaulting another on West Street, a Brighton pervert, Halcyon Platt, the Brighton Sex Offender, has been sentenced.
Following events in the early morning of October 1, 2023, Halcyon Platt, 21, of Ditchling Rise, Brighton, was condemned on July 12.
Early on October 1, Halcyon Platt was in a West Street nightclub when he made uninvited approaches towards a 20-year-old lady.
After he was confronted about his actions, Halcyon Platt reportedly grabbed the woman by the throat and sexually assaulted her.
The victim reported the offence to the police, and a second incident involving Halcyon Platt occurred while they were on the phone.
Halcyon Platt grew furious with a second woman close to the club as she tried to help a man on West Street.
Before attacking her and throwing the 23-year-old victim to the ground, he pushed her away from the scene.
Halcyon Platt severely stamped the victims’ heads several times, resulting in significant facial damage.
Halcyon Platt was swiftly detained by police at the scene and taken to detention before being bailed under rigorous terms.
On March 27, Halcyon Platt was charged with deliberate strangulation, sexual assault, and attempted terrible bodily harm.
Halcyon Platt entered a guilty plea on May 23, trying to inflict sexual assault and significant physical injury. Requested to be kept on file was the deliberate strangulation offence.
Halcyon Platt was sentenced to 45 months at Lewes Crown Court on July 12 and fined £228.
The victims each gave remarks to be presented to the court, illustrating the effects of these crimes on their lives.
Halcyon Platt sexually raped the 20-year-old lady, and she alleged,
“This event surely affected my anxiousness.
“I cannot go out anymore, as I worry about what will happen to me.
“I haven’t been able to visit a pub or club lately.
“I had to go home after having a terrible anxiety attack during my last attempt to do so.
“I have had to switch employment as well. I formerly worked for a nonprofit. Although the work was pleasant and fulfilling, it included public speaking to many strangers.
“After I was attacked, the thought of approaching strangers, especially single men, was terrifying.”
In a second statement, the 23-year-old victim, who also suffered because of Halcyon Platt’s conduct, said,
“For the first week, I was afraid to go to sleep as the head damage made me believe I would not wake up.
“I isolated myself, and I was also very anxious.”
She said then,
“I felt low generally about how I looked and found it difficult to leave the house after, scared of people seeing my face.”
Victoria Lofts, a detective sergeant, said,
“We hope Halcyon Platt’s sentence brings victims of these crimes a sense of justice, therefore enabling them to start to move on from these horrible events.
“There have been many people involved in this investigation; we would want to take a moment to thank those who helped with enquiries and supplied important accounts, so guiding us to reach this point in securing the results to take a dangerous man off the streets.”
