A convicted sex offender from Kent, Owen Payne Maidstone Paedophile, was incarcerated following discoveries made by the police at his residence. Owen Payne, 24, of Cornwallis Avenue, Maidstone, was previously given a suspended sentence for attempting to induce a child to engage in sexual conduct and was also made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The directive mandated him to inform law enforcement of any internet-connected devices to which he had access. In September 2024 during a normal inspection of his residence, cops seized three mobile phones, a tablet, a gaming device and a PC.
Neither the devices nor any of Owen Payne’s 16 online aliases were disclosed to law enforcement in accordance with the stipulations of his SHPO. Subsequent searches of the location resulted in the confiscation of nine bladed instruments, comprising knives and swords.
Owen Payne was charged with violating a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), failing to adhere to notification obligations, and multiple counts of possessing an unlawful firearm in a private location.
He admitted admission to all charges and received a sentence of two years and eight months’ imprisonment at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Investigating officer Mark Deacon said: “Owen Payne had already been convicted of sexual offences and rather than change his ways he chose to continue offending by breaching the conditions of his court order.
“Not only did Owen Payne think he could evade capture by failing to notify police of seven internet-enabled devices and 16 online usernames, but he also thought himself above the law when it came to owning numerous illegal weapons.
“Owen Payne has proven himself to be a calculating and dangerous sexual offender, who has been rightly handed a custodial sentence for his crimes.”
