A chief inspector Rob Leet was scheduled for a gross misconduct hearing on allegations of engaging in sexual relations with a fellow officer and a crime victim while on duty.

Chief Inspector Rob Leet allegedly encountered a woman whom he was aware had suffered domestic violence in 2014 and 2016.

Chief Inspector Rob Leet and Police Sgt. Sarah Porter, both affiliated with Sussex Police, are also purported to have engaged in sexual activity while on duty.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said that Sarah Porter will also undergo a gross misconduct hearing.

The IOPC initiated an inquiry in March 2017 subsequent to a referral from Sussex Police.

The referral was initiated after Sgt. Sarah Porter was reported as uncontactable after a deadly accident that occurred while she was on duty.

It is alleged that the two officers, Chief Inspector Rob Leet and Sgt. Sarah Porter, shagged during work hours without a work-related objective and regularly utilised Sussex Police communication facilities to exchange messages lacking a professional rationale.

Sgt Sarah Porter is additionally charged with improperly contacting a witness in the IOPC probe.

Sarah Green, the IOPC regional director, stated: “We believe that if the allegations are substantiated, they would constitute gross misconduct, and Sussex Police concurs.”

“A panel, led by an independent legally qualified chair, will now evaluate all the evidence to determine the validity of the allegations.”

No referral was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service about this inquiry.
