Dr. Matthew Falder Paedophile from Cambridge University has admitted to a ‘horrifying’ list of over 100 crimes. The crimes include blackmailing victims into sending him terrible abuse photographs of themselves, which he then shares on the dark web.
He is now among the UK’s most convicted sex offenders.
Dr Matthew Falder, 28, also admitted to charges of inducing a child’s sexual exploitation, voyeurism, creating and sharing obscene photos of children, and even promoting the rape of a four-year-old.
Since 2010, the geophysicist at Birmingham University has degraded and humiliated over 50 victims online under the identities “666devil” and “evilmind”.
He admitted the charges at a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.
Dr Matthew Falder was detained on June 21 this year and has been in detention since then.
Dr Matthew Falder, of Edgbaston, Birmingham, posed as a female on websites like Gumtree to deceive his victims into sending him naked or partially dressed photos of themselves.
The geophysicist then threatened to reveal his victims unless they sent severe and sadistic abuse photographs of themselves.
Dr. Matthew Falder then posted the photographs on the dark web, including some depicting newborns and children being tormented, and discussed them extensively to humiliate the people.
The investigation is the National Crime Agency’s first in “hurt core” offending, which refers to hidden web forums where people discuss and share videos of “dark” material.
Judge Philip Parker QC remanded Falder in custody until December 7, when he will be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court.
According to Ruona Iguyovwe of the Crown Prosecution Service’s International Justice and Organised Crime Division, Matthew Falder is a highly deceptive.
“He used his knowledge of computers and the internet to persuade dozens of young people to supply him with degrading images he could distribute online and subsequently use in blackmailing them,” she claimed.
“He enjoyed humiliating his victims, and the impact of his offending, which carried on over several years, has been significant.”
Mike Hames, the former head of Scotland Yard’s Paedophile Squad, described him as a “very nasty and savage individual.”
‘Although his acts were non-contact, they were very comparable to hands-on abuse in that he used whatever methods to coerce his victims into doing things they would not typically do.
‘And then he would use his authority to make them feel bad about themselves in various ways. It was something similar to rape.
Matt Sutton, a senior investigating officer for the National Crime Agency, said he had never seen such a heinous crime in his 30-year career in law enforcement.
“There are more than 50 victims in this case, and I commend them for their bravery in helping us convict a truly evil offender,” he told reporters.
“It has been an extremely complex investigation into a prolific online predator, who over several years believed he could evade law enforcement to sexually and sadistically exploit vulnerable victims.”
