Farzad Shabani perpetrated a sexual assault on a student while she wept, subsequently launching a campaign of manipulation to deter her from pursuing justice.

The 30-year-old, Farzad Shabani, struggled to rape her and then, without remorse, expressed anger at her distress after the incident.

He subsequently attempted to persuade her that the assault was her responsibility, before subjecting her to the distress of hearing his falsehoods throughout the trial.

Farzad Shabani executed his assault during the early morning hours at a university living hall in Liverpool.

He thereafter initiated a retaliatory social media effort, which involved the establishment of a fraudulent Instagram profile, aimed at inciting the student to elicit comments that he might exploit to discredit her.

Farzad Shabani, residing on Rectory Road in Crumpsall, Manchester, received a sentence of six and a half years in prison.
