Louis Wells arrived unannounced at his ex-partner’s residence in the early hours of March 28 and perpetrated a violent assault, during which he struck her multiple times and strangled her. Louis Wells, aged 33, arrived at the residence accompanied by an individual donned in a balaclava, who observed as the assault transpired.

Shortly thereafter, law enforcement altered the locks on the woman’s residence; nevertheless, Louis Wells reappeared hours later, forcibly breached the door, and wept at the foot of the victim’s bed, instilling terror in her. Subsequent to his apprehension, he was transported to a hospital, where he exhibited hostile behaviour against a nurse and subsequently headbutted a police officer attempting to intervene.

Louis Wells, whose residence is unspecified, admitted guilt to charges of criminal damage, attacking an emergency responder, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm. During the sentencing of Wells, Judge Ray Singh remarked that the woman must have been “absolutely terrified” and indicated that the assault was “clearly premeditated.” Wells received a 20-month incarceration and a 10-year restraining order was established.
