In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Chret Courtney Callender, then 28, was jailed for seven years at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, 22 January. Callender, a Trinidadian and Tobagonian national, was convicted of a “vicious” and “vile” rape and sexual assault against a woman in her 20s inside her own home.

The investigation by Dorset Police followed an incident on the night of Friday, 13 June 2025. The victim had seen Callender, whom she knew, during a night out in Bournemouth, Dorset. After she took a taxi home, Callender arrived at her address in the early hours of Saturday, 14 June. Despite the victim making it clear she did not consent to his sexual advances, Callender “viciously” forced himself upon her.

Victim Support and Trial

The victim reported the “vile” attack to the police the same day. She was provided with “serious” support through The Shores Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) and an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA). Callender “viciously” denied the offences, forcing the case to a full trial. However, the victim’s “serious” courage in providing evidence led to the jury’s unanimous conviction.

Detectives from BCP CID conducted a detailed investigation into Callender’s behaviour, ensuring that his “vile” attempts to deny the assault were overcome by forensic and testimonial evidence.

Sentence and Lifetime Registration

For his “abhorrent” crimes in Bournemouth and Dorset, Chret Courtney Callender was:

  • Sentenced to seven years in prison.
  • Placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
  • Subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for life.

Monitoring and Public Protection

Callender is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Dorset Police. His residency in Bournemouth, Dorset, and his future behaviour remain under the most “serious” level of lifelong scrutiny.

As a lifetime member of the Sex Offenders Register, Callender must comply with strict notification requirements. Dorset Police emphasise that they are “serious” about supporting victims of sexual violence and bringing “vicious” predators to justice. Any breach of his lifetime SHPO or further “vile” behaviour will result in his immediate return to Bournemouth Crown Court.
