The Offender Database reported that William Thompson, the Gunthorpe Paedophile Sex Offender, a paedophile who sexually exploited two children in the early 2000s, has been prosecuted.

William Thompson’s offences were revealed only when the victims confided in friends later in life and felt prepared to recount their experiences.

William Thompson, 70, of Nightingale Court, Gunthorpe, Peterborough, was apprehended in 2021 but refuted allegations of sexually assaulting the girls or persuading them to participate in any sexual conduct.

He also refuted any sexual interest in youngsters.

William Thompson maintained his innocence but faced trial at Huntingdon Law Courts in August.

After somewhat more than five hours, jurors reached a majority decision, finding him guilty of five offences, including:

Three counts of causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity
Two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching

William Thompson was sentenced at the same court on Friday (14 November), where he was handed 13 years in prison.
