In 2018, the Offender Database reported that William Robertson, the Clydebank Attempted Baby Killer, then 21, was convicted of attempting to murder an infant girl at his residence in Clydebank.

William Robertson repeatedly assaulted the nine-month-old infant, inflicting a broken skull and significant bruises to her forehead.

He asserted that the infant incurred her injuries from a tumble off a couch.

Medical experts informed the High Court in Glasgow that her injuries resulted from multiple incidents.

The attempted murder occurred at William Robertson’s flat on Jean Armour Drive, Clydebank, on 9 September of the previous year.

William Robertson asserted that he had been asleep when he was awakened by the infant tumbling from the couch.

The jury convicted him of attempting to murder the infant by repeatedly striking her on the head and body.

The two-year-old child has fully recovered.

William Robertson has a history of violent offences, having previously been convicted of menacing a neighbour with a baseball bat affixed with a knife.

In September, a jury at Dumbarton Sheriff Court convicted Robertson of violent and threatening behaviour towards three of his former girlfriends over an 18-month period.

William Robertson was ONLY jailed for 21 months, highlighting Scotland’s dedication to the safety of children.
