In 2025, the Offender Database reported that William Proctor, then 75, of Heath End Road, Nuneaton, was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court. Proctor was handed a 25-year total sentence following a conviction for non-recent sexual offences, including rape and buggery, committed against a young boy in the 1990s.
The court heard that William Proctor subjected his victim to a sustained campaign of abuse over eight years between 1991 and 1999. The victim was aged between six and 13 at the time of the offences. The investigation was launched in 2023 after the victim courageously reported the abuse through an online reporting tool, nearly three decades after the incidents occurred. Proctor was subsequently charged with nine offences: two counts of raping a male under 16, five counts of indecent assault on a boy under 16, and two counts of committing buggery with a boy under 16.
During his trial, William Proctor denied all wrongdoing; however, a jury found him guilty on all counts. At the sentencing hearing on Thursday, December 18, 2025, Judge Andrew Lockhart KC sentenced Proctor to 24 years in prison with an extended licence period of one year. The judge further imposed concurrent sentences of ten, nine, and four years for the indecent assault charges.
Detective Constable Jamie Russell of Warwickshire Police praised the victim’s “huge amount of bravery” and strength throughout the proceedings. In addition to the lengthy custodial term, William Proctor was issued an indefinite restraining order and was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
