Stuart Harris, the Wellingborough Paedophile, convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting two young ladies, has received a sentence exceeding three years in prison.
In 2021, a lady informed Northamptonshire Police that Stuart Harris, aged 61, had been subjecting her to abuse for over a decade.
Officers interviewed the victim, who revealed that Stuart Harris had commenced sexually assaulting her during her adolescence, inappropriately touching her in private despite her requests for him to desist, and employing threats to deter her from disclosing his continued abuse.
During the subsequent inquiry, a second victim was located, who reported that Harris had sexually abused her for a minimum of three years.
Stuart Harris was apprehended and subsequently charged with several sexual offences against the two ladies.
He refuted the allegations; nevertheless, after a trial at Northampton Crown Court, which he did not attend, Stuart Harris was convicted on May 29 of three counts of sexual assault involving a female aged 16 or older.
On September 10, in the same court, Stuart Harris, residing on Bourton Way in Wellingborough, was sentenced to three years and six months of jail in absentia due to his repeated failure to appear.
He was indefinitely registered as a sex offender and mandated to pay a victim premium.
Speaking afterwards, investigating officer DC Fay Maskell of CID North, said: “Stuart Harris is a predatory sexual offender, who took advantage of a position of trust to repeatedly abuse two young women, using threats to ensure their silence for many years.
“I am so pleased that despite Stuart Harris’ efforts to control them, both survivors were able to bravely find their voices and by speaking up, have ensured he has been recognised by a jury as the abuser that he is.
“The courage and composure of both women in reporting Stuart Harris and seeing the case through trial is commendable, and I wish them both every happiness as they continue to heal from the trauma they have survived.
“Stuart Harris is now a wanted man, a convicted sex offender, and we are working hard to bring him into custody to serve his sentence. My message to him is that justice has already caught up with him, and so will we.”
This report has been released with the support of the survivors in this case, who have a legal right to lifelong anonymity.
