Pascal Jombla, the Hackney Rapist, 49, of Amhurst Road, assaulted his victim with punches and kicks in a prolonged attack at his residence on June 22, 2022, according to police, before proceeding to rape her.

Her injuries were so grave that she was hospitalised.

On June 21, 2023, Pascal Jombla received an extended sentence of 24 years at Wood Green Crown Court, comprising a jail term of 19 years and a 5-year extension period.

Detective Constable Jean-Luc Argent, who spearheaded the investigation, stated: “Pascal Jombla is a violent rapist, and his actions have inflicted significant trauma.”

“His sole appropriate location is in incarceration.”

On 8 November 2022, Pascal Jombla was found guilty of six charges of rape and two counts of actual bodily injury after a trial.

The detective said the victim had remarkable courage during the investigation and trial.

Police reported that Jombla had threatened her to be silent.

After the assault, the following morning, Pascal Jombla succumbed to sleep, allowing the victim to flee and call for assistance from the front entrance.

An individual walking by dialled 999.

Officers promptly arrived and discovered the victim-survivor with facial injuries and significant bodily contusions.

She was taken to the hospital, where it was determined she had suffered a fracture to her lower back and other physical injuries.

In a statement read out at court, the victim-survivor said: “What happened to me on that night has severely impacted my life in every way.

“I still feel uneasy going out, but I know I have to try and continue my life as normally as possible.

“I don’t think I will ever be able to fully recover from what happened to me, which scares me, as I don’t want to spend the rest of my life thinking about the ordeal he put me through.

“I would like to thank everyone who helped and supported me through this horrendous ordeal,” she said.

Pascal Jombla was arrested later that morning when officers found him asleep at his home.

Pascal Jombla did not comment in his police interview and was charged on 24 June 2022, two days later.
