In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Osman Bahidiny, 27, of Port Street, Evesham, Worcestershire, was sentenced to a total of eight years and eight months in prison. Bahidiny appeared at Worcester Crown Court on 7 January 2026, where he was convicted of a “vile” and “vicious” rape alongside a “serious” catalogue of other criminal offences.
The rape occurred in Bromyard, Herefordshire, in October 2023. The investigation by West Mercia Police revealed that Bahidiny was also involved in burglary, multiple thefts, and dangerous driving while disqualified. The prosecution emphasised that he “callously” left the survivor living in a state of terror for over two years while the case progressed through the legal system.
The Toll of the Justice System
The “courageous” survivor, who came forward on New Year’s Eve in 2023, spoke out about the “disgraceful” delays in the British justice system. She reported that the wait was “mentally draining” and “kicked the strength out of her.” During the investigation, while Bahidiny was “roaming free,” the victim felt forced to install CCTV and sleep with a weapon for protection.
Her experience reflects a wider “serious” issue identified by Rape Crisis England & Wales, which reported that adult survivors wait an average of 417 days from the point of charging to the completion of a Crown Court trial. Furthermore, data from 2024 reported that fewer than three in 100 recorded rapes resulted in a charge that same year, highlighting the “horrific” challenges victims face.
Indefinite Monitoring and Public Safety
As a result of his convictions for rape, burglary, and dangerous driving, Osman Bahidiny was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely. He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by West Mercia Police, ensuring his behaviour in Evesham, Bromyard, and the wider Worcestershire area is strictly monitored upon his eventual release.
Bahidiny was also disqualified from driving for two years. Any future “vile” conduct or breach of his indefinite registration requirements will result in his immediate arrest and a return to prison.
