In 2022, Martyn Wood, the Keighley Paedophile, a paedophile councillor, was incarcerated for the sexual assault of a schoolgirl.
Martyn Wood, 40, of Parkwood Rise in Keighley, received six years and eight months in jail at Leeds Crown Court today.
On September 30, Martyn Wood pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a girl under 13 involving penetration with a portion of his body, specifically his finger.
Martyn Wood, a representative of the Morton and Sandbeds wards on Keighley Town Council, also chaired the council’s planning committee.
During the sexual attack, the youngster implored him to cease, but he interrupted her and began discussing a film.
Richard Woolfall, for the prosecution, stated that the little girl was compelled to provide an “excuse” before Wood ceased his actions.
A victim impact statement from the girl’s mother, presented in court on her behalf, indicated that the girl had been joyful and satisfied at that time and tended to focus on the positive aspects of the world.
The court was informed that the young girl had become brusque in her demeanour and initially declined to eat, asserting that she was not hungry.
It has affected her daughter’s sleep, resulting in exhaustion.
The mother also said the most upsetting thing is that her daughter blames herself for what happened.
She said: “She blames herself for what happened, she thinks she is at fault, no matter how much I tell her she is not, she won’t listen.”
His Honour Judge Mairs said: “As is often the case with children who have suffered this kind of abuse, she wrongly blames herself.”
