The Offender Database reported that Martin Hellett, the Brampton Paedophile Sex Offender, previously listed on the Sex Offender Register, has received what a judge termed his “final opportunity” after neglecting to submit his mandatory annual report to law enforcement.

The 34-year-old, Martin Hellett, from Cumbria, was registered due to prior convictions for attempted sexual conduct with a minor and possession of indecent photographs.

According to the regulations of the register, he is required to verify his personal information annually, which he failed to do in July.

Upon interrogation by the officers, Martin Hellett allegedly stated that he had “merely forgotten.”

Prosecutors detailed his background, which includes a 2017 court-martial conviction and a suspended sentence in 2023 for prior violations of sexual harm prevention mandates.

His defence asserted that Martin Hellett fully acknowledged the error, currently employs multiple reminders to prevent future lapses, and is ready to participate in a program designed to mitigate risk.

Recorder Michael Duck KC cautioned him that incarceration would have been fully warranted, but recognised the “substantial progress” he had been achieving.

He issued a 12-month community order requiring 120 hours of unpaid labour in lieu of incarceration.

The judge stated, “This is your last opportunity.”
