In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Linus Rickett, then 20, of Kings Road, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with an additional three years on extended licence. Rickett, a “vile” and “vicious” predator, targeted ten boys aged between nine and 13 years old over a period of nearly two years. The investigation by Thames Valley Police revealed that Rickett carried out a “serious” and “depraved” campaign of abuse in Henley-on-Thames and the surrounding areas between February 2017 and October 2018.

The court heard horrendous details of Rickett’s “vicious” behaviour, which included seven counts of inciting boys under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity. When Thames Valley Police searched his property, they discovered a “sickening” and “vile” collection of indecent material, including 106 images in the most “serious” Category A, 514 in Category B, and 3,181 in Category C. The prosecution emphasised that Rickett had also carried out “vicious” acts of voyeurism against his young victims.

During the sentencing at Oxford Crown Court on 20 March 2019, the judge emphasised the “serious” nature of the harm caused to the ten young victims. Rickett “callously” exploited the children for his own “vicious” sexual gratification, leading to an extended sentence to ensure he remains under “serious” supervision for a total of eight years. The court reported that Rickett had pleaded guilty to all counts, acknowledging the “vile” and “depraved” scale of his offending against children as young as nine.

As a result of his convictions for inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, voyeurism, and making indecent images, Linus Rickett was jailed and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Thames Valley Police, ensuring his behaviour and digital activity in Henley-on-Thames and across Oxfordshire are strictly monitored. Any further “vile” actions or attempts to contact minors will result in his immediate arrest and return to prison.
