In 2022, Kenneth Wood, the Tamworth Paedophile, an 82-year-old man, was sentenced to 23 years in prison for a series of historical sexual offences against minors spanning several decades.

Kenneth Wood, from Tamworth, confessed to a total of nine offences, comprising six counts of rape, two of which included victims under the age of 13.

According to Staffordshire Police, the offences commenced in the 1960s, with more incidents occurring between 2011 and 2020.

Kenneth Wood received his sentence on Thursday at Stafford Crown Court.

The offences also encompassed indecent assaults on minors.

Judge Jonathan Gosling characterised Kenneth Wood as a “monster” during his sentencing, according to Staffordshire Police.

Kenneth Wood was granted an additional year of supervision.

Detective Constable Anna-Mae Dawson, of the Child Protection and Exploitation Team, stated that it required “immense bravery” for the victims to come forward.

She stated it was a case she would never forget.

Det Con Dawson stated, “The events experienced by the victims are catastrophic and continue to affect them presently.”

“The ability to deliver justice and closure encapsulates the essence of our role as officers.”
