A Macomb Township Pedophile, Jolyan Raeed Zahrah, aged 18, is facing allegations of disseminating child pornography and possessing images of animal suffering, according to federal court filings.
Last Monday, FBI investigators submitted a criminal complaint against Jolyan Raeed Zahrah, as per official records.
Agents indicated their intention to charge the Macomb Township homeowner with the distribution of animal crush films, the distribution of child pornography, and the possession of child pornography.
The distribution of animal crush videos is punishable by a maximum of seven years’ imprisonment. The distribution of child pornography is subject to a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment, while possession may incur a sentence ranging from 10 to 20 years, contingent upon whether the depicted kid is prepubescent.
Jolyan Raeed Zahrah’s counsel was unavailable for comment on Friday.
The federal complaint states that on September 22, 2023, FBI investigators got an internet tip on an account utilised for disseminating child sexual abuse material on Discord, an instant messaging and voice-over-Internet network. The report indicated that the account disseminated explicit photographs of child pornography.
Agents secured a court order to retrieve the email address linked to the account responsible for disseminating the material, it stated. They subsequently secured a court order to ascertain the identify of the email address’s proprietor from an Internet service provider.
The court record indicated that investigators traced the email account to a physical location on Ring Neck Drive in Macomb Township.
In April, authorities conducted a search warrant execution at the residence in Macomb Township, as stated in the court document. During the search, they confiscated a cell phone belonging to the defendant, it stated. Jolyan Raeed Zahrah supplied agents with the phone’s passcode, revealing that he was connected into 13 distinct email accounts.
Investigators later questioned Jolyan Raeed Zahrah, and he admitted to using Discord under many accounts, being the administrator of a Discord chat group, and having “intimate knowledge” of an online community known as “764,” the complaint said.
The online community is a network of people who authorities call extremists who seek to normalize the production, sharing and possession of child pornography as well as gore material to desensitize and corrupt youth toward future acts of violence to create “social unrest and cause the downfall of the current world order, including the U.S. government,” court documents said.
The network, named for the first three numbers of the zip code of the town in Texas where its founder lived, and its offshoots have targeted thousands of children in recent years, often persuading them to share nude photos and then extorting them into harming animals or themselves, according to the FBI.
In November, a Kaleva man and a member of 764 was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison after he was convicted of sexually exploiting a girl.
Jolyan Raeed Zahrah also admitted during questioning to seeing pornography of children ages 5 to 10 in the online chats he managed, agents said in the complaint.
Agents confronted the defendant with some of the chats and images sent with his Discord accounts, the document said, and he allegedly admitted to saying “terrible things” and things he was “not proud of.”
Authorities later searched Jolyan Raeed Zahrah’s cell phone and found photos of child pornography in addition to images of men having sexual intercourse with animals, including a puppy, a turtle and a deer carcass, court records said.
At the end of the month, FBI agents obtained a warrant to obtain all records and information associated with Jolyan Raeed Zahrah’s user accounts on Discord. The company provided all of the requested files the next day, according to the complaint.
They reviewed the accounts and found more than 30 files of videos of animals being crushed, impaled and severely injured, it said.
The defendant is the latest Michigan resident to be accused of crimes involving child pornography.
Last week, a White Cloud man was sentenced to five years in prison after federal authorities said he confessed to possessing tens of thousands of child porn images and videos while working at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay.
Last month, a Macomb County registered sex offender was given 40 years in federal prison for the sexual exploitation of children and making child porn.
Also in May, federal officials accused a Jackson County man who volunteered to read to kindergarteners of receiving, distributing and possessing child porn.
