The 50-year-old, Jason Hall, articulated his intention to molest the girl and travelled by train to Chester to perpetrate the abuse.
However, neither the mother nor her daughter was genuine, and he was instead confronted by police awaiting him outside the station.
Officers examined his backpack and discovered a pack of condoms and an Easter egg meant for his prospective victim.
During the search of Jason Hall’s residence on Greenbank Road, Mossley Hill, officers uncovered almost 2,000 obscene photos of minors.
Jason Hall, lacking any prior convictions, was apprehended by undercover decoy officers on an adult website between March and May 2018.
He confessed to orchestrating or enabling the perpetration of a child sex offence, attempting to induce or inspire a child to participate in sexual conduct, attempting to compel a child to see a picture of sexual activity, three counts of downloading indecent photos, and possessing extreme pornography.
Jason Hall was incarcerated for a duration of two years and eight months.
