A Tonbridge Rapist, Gary Duke, who sexually assaulted a woman after intoxicating her with drugs and alcohol has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Gary Duke urged his victim to consume champagne and inhale cannabis before to sexually assaulting her while she was asleep.

Kent Police received a report of rape at a residence in Maidstone on 13 November 2022.

Gary Duke used drink and illegal drugs, thereby coaxing the victim to partake as well.

After the woman lost consciousness, Gary Duke assaulted her and departed the location prior to her regaining awareness.

The 59-year-old, Gary Duke, from Lockside in Tonbridge was eventually apprehended and subsequently charged with rape.

He entered a plea of not guilty to the offence but was subsequently convicted after a trial and sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, July 25, 2025.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Joanne Burt, said:

‘Gary Duke carried out a pre-meditated assault on his victim, purchasing drugs and alcohol with the intention of disarming her and taking advantage of her for his own sexual gratification.

‘He showed no remorse throughout and denied his actions, forcing the victim to relive a traumatic incident in court proceedings. The offender even went so far as making fictitious claims that he had sex with his victim in his sleep and was unaware of his actions.

‘I am grateful to the victim for her support in securing a conviction and hope that the lengthy custodial sentence imposed brings her some comfort.’
