In 2022, Dave Bolam, the Doncaster Paedophile, who sexually assaulted a young girl, was incarcerated. Dave Bolam, 41, of Tenby Gardens, has been incarcerated for sexually assaulting a girl after a prolonged period of grooming her via social media, so irrevocably damaging her upbringing.
During a week-long trial, Sheffield Crown Court was informed that 41-year-old Dave Bolam encountered his victim at a party and then initiated communication with her over social media.
Dave Bolam ultimately coerced his victim into remaining at his residence, instructing her to notify family members that she was at a friend’s place, and on the night of 15 February, he engaged in sexual intercourse with her.
The victim, granted lifelong anonymity, informed authorities during her interrogation that Dave Bolam had made three attempts to remove her shorts, to which she responded with a firm refusal. He reassured her that it was acceptable and that no one would discover it before engaging in sexual intercourse with her.
The victim courageously reported the incident to the cops, prompting the initiation of an investigation.
Investigating Officer Detective Samantha Brown explains more about the investigation: “I would like to commend the victim on her bravery shown throughout this investigation.
“Our investigations are stronger with supportive victims, and during the investigation and trial, she has shown immense maturity and strength.
“Dave Bolam pleaded his innocence throughout our enquiries, interviews and within court.
“He said he did not know the victim’s age and believed her to be much older, believing she was 19. His family members questioned the victim about her age as they believed she looked much younger than what Dave Bolam had told them.
“This predatory behaviour is a danger to the young members of our communities. Their vulnerability of age is exploited for personal gain, and I am pleased Dave Bolam is now facing a lengthy sentence for his actions.”
Temporary Detective Sergeant Jack Smith added, “I am pleased regarding this result; it shows great commitment and hard work by the detective to obtain an element of justice for a very brave victim.”
Charged with nine counts of sexual activity with a child, Dave Bolam appeared before Sheffield Crown Court last week (17 November) and was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison.
Dave Bolam was also placed on the sex offender register for life and has a sexual harm prevention order in place following his release.
